This Week's Playlist: Hot Hot Heat

This playlist is inspired by hot summer days and warm summer nights. Festivals and BBQ's, beach days and day drinking. Friends and fun.

"The time to hesitate is through. No time to wallow in the mire."

Enjoy!! Happy Summer!

Breathe In The Air. Don't Be Afraid To Care.

"....Leave, don't leave me. Look around, choose your own ground. How you live and how you fly. Smiles you give and tears you cry. All you touch, and all you see, is all your life will ever be."

Summer is officially here as of yesterday at noon. There's an air about summer, besides the thick, wet warm air that excites me. I feel like summer is when the magic happens. Maybe it's the short skirts or long days...whatever it is, I'm happy it's here.

Here are some of my favorite parts of summer...particularly Chicago summer.

*Outdoor Music Festivals*

*Great Rooftop Patio Bars*

*The Beach...and Less Clothing*

*Street Festivals. All of Them*

Come on now, get up and get out. Get your summer on.

I leave you with some more powerful words from Pink Floyd:
"Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond."

Mid-Summers Day Dream Playlist

A fun little mix of some mellow, some pumped up tunes, some old, some new. Partially inspired by a great Foster The People concert, partially inspired by this weekend's mini California vacation and memories of my last trip out there.

Enjoy!

Early June Soundtrack

Weather has warmed up, everything is in full bloom, a cool breeze whispers off the lake, summer is here!

“Summer is kind of like the ultimate one-night stand: hot as hell, totally thrilling, and gone before you know it.”

Enjoy this mix...a little rock, a little soft, a little beachy.

Symmetry

My good friend, Drew, who is an incredibly talented and wise human being recently posted this video to his blog and I have watched it a few times, every time falling deeper and deeper into it. The guys at Everynone do some really profound, symbolic, mind-f*@k (in the good way) type stuff...a simple concept, such as symmetry, and define it in ways that move beyond the norm...albeit it, throwing in the "norm" to help balance.

I love things like this....things that remind us to stop and remove ourselves from these complex microcosms we've built around us and think, think about what's there in front of us every day.

When you finish pondering "Symmetry", go ahead and watch the others. "Words" might actually be an even bigger fave of mine.

Goodnight friends. Dream well.

Today's Soundtrack

"Without music, life would be a mistake." - Frederich Nietzsche

Enjoy. Happy Wednesday!

Inspiration.

I needed to be inspired, or more so, to accept the inspiration I was feeling every day, all around me and project it.

Here's what I have felt inspired by lately.

(Peonies. Oh sweet sweet spring.)
(Read it carefully. What a great piece of art..)
(This is what I stumble upon walking home, late at night.)

Pixies Piano remake by Maxence Cyrin. - try listening to this and not getting lost in it, even if you weren't a fan of the original Pixies song (which is a larger issue we should deal with).
